I can't do anything, this password comes up before I can get into any settings or the OS or anything. ![]() I should mention, taking out the CMOS battery, does appear to reset the settings, but the system password prompt still comes up. I tried booting with a Windows install disk in, still locked out. I tried booting without the HDD in, still a password. In all of the guides online, only one set is ever mentioned). (Also, on this board, there are two jumpers and two sets of 3 pins right next to each other. I also tried moving the jumpers on the CMOS pins, it did not work either. ![]() I tried clearing the CMOS by removing the CMOS battery, it did not work. I downloaded Media Creation Tool and run it but it failed half way through “Updating Windows” process with a BSOD “We couldn’t install Windows 10 0xC1900101 – 0x4000D Installation failed in the Second_Boot phase with error during MIGRATE_DATA operation” The pc reverted to Windows 8.1 Pro. Tried to update Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop from Windows 8.1 Pro to Windows 10 as described in Upgrade Dell Inspiron 1545 to Win 10 fails - Windows 10 Forums but get a BSOD at 75% of updating computer. ![]()
